Relaxed Glamour

Rich and opulent pheasant feathers, warm golds, berry reds and navy blues were the inspiration for this beautiful and magnificent styled shoot. I wanted to create the image of a winter frost settling on beautiful berries.

I fell in love with Mount Ephraim Gardens and its grandeau with its traditional paintings, beautiful staircase and marbled tiled floor, perfectly groomed gardens full of secret spaces, interesting features and hidden mazes. It was the perfect setting for a shoot with a bit of glitz and sparkle.

Although we had grand surroundings, I wanted to show a new blend of that glamourous sparkle with a relaxed and almost wild, bohemian and earthy feel using the rich greenery of the surrounding gardens. I found some wonderful sequin wedding dresses that were the ideal mixture of glamour and earthy vibes. We matched the hair and makeup with an editorial and dramatic styling.

I was inspired by simple all foliage bouquets with shades of green and earthy purples giving that truly wild look. For the table I wanted to add some colour with blush pinks to soften the dark rich colours of the berries and deep red flowers, teamed with the very glamourous navy sequin cloth there was the right combination of elegance and romance.

The cakes were kept simple, some small with a marbled covering to mimic that of the grand halls floor and a few larger cakes one reflecting the colours of the initial theme and another simple and rustically textured in white, the added flare of the beautiful pheasant feathers to finish this cake.
